How It Works

Three steps. You stay in the driver's seat.

Phantom-lex reads, explains, and prepares the work. You review and send. We track what happens and tell you what's next.

01

Connect your reports

Secure read-only link to Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. We pull every account, inquiry, and public record across all three so you have one place to actually understand them.

02

We explain & prepare

Every item on your report, translated. Which entries are legally disputable, which aren't, and why. For the disputable ones, we draft the letter with the right FCRA section cited. For the rebuild side, we lay out the realistic path.

You act. We track.

You send the letter (we'll print & mail or hand you a PDF). We watch the response window, alert you on day 28 if no reply, and tell you whether the bureau's reply actually fixes the problem. If it's time to escalate to the CFPB, we draft that for you too. You file it.

Did the bureau actually fix the Equifax item?
Partially. They updated the balance but kept the late mark. I've drafted a follow-up citing §611(a)(5) — review it when you have a minute.

What Most People Don't Know

Credit repair is confusing by design.

Bureaus, collectors, and lenders count on you not knowing the rules. Phantom-lex exists to close that gap.

You don't know what's actually wrong

Reports are dense and full of codes. Most people can't tell which entries are accurate, which are errors, and which are reporting violations.

You don't know what's legally disputable

FCRA §611, §623, §609 — different sections cover different situations. Generic letters get auto-rejected because they don't cite the right grounds.

You don't know the deadlines

Bureaus have 30 days (sometimes 45) to respond. If you don't track the clock, the window quietly closes and the error stays.

You don't know when to escalate

CFPB complaints, state AG filings, consumer-law referrals — each has its moment. Knowing which and when is half the game.

You don't know if it actually stuck

Roughly 1 in 5 removed items reappears within 60 days. Without someone watching the reports, you'd never catch it.

FAQ

Common questions.

Don't see what you need? Ask Lex directly.

Wait — does Phantom-lex actually file disputes for me?
No, and we want to be straight about that. Phantom-lex drafts the dispute letters, prepares them with the right FCRA section cited, and tracks the response window — but you review, sign, and send. You can mail them yourself or use our print-and-mail service for postage. CFPB complaints work the same way: we draft, you file. You're always the one acting.
Then what am I paying $29 a month for?
Understanding. Phantom-lex translates your reports, identifies what's legally disputable and what isn't, drafts compliant letters so you're not sending generic ones that get rejected, tracks every deadline so nothing slips, watches for reinsertion, and gives you a real rebuild plan. Lex answers your questions in plain English. You're paying for clarity and the legwork — you keep the agency.
How is this different from a credit-repair company?
Traditional shops typically charge $80–150/month, file generic disputes on your behalf, and bill until you cancel. We charge less, prepare better letters with specific FCRA citations, explain everything in plain language, and put you in control of every action. We'd rather be the tool you understand than the service you blindly trust.
Is this legal? Is it FCRA-aligned?
Yes. Phantom-lex operates as a knowledge and drafting tool. The disputes we prepare are grounded in specific FCRA sections (most commonly §611 and §623(a)(8)). Because you sign and send, you remain the consumer exercising your statutory rights. We follow CROA, FDCPA, and CFPB-aligned procedures throughout.
Will using Phantom-lex hurt my score?
No. Bureau access is read-only — no hard inquiries. Disputes themselves don't affect your score. The rebuild guidance can positively impact utilization and account-mix over time, but only if you act on it.
How long until I see results?
Bureaus must respond within 30 days of receiving a dispute (extendable to 45). First removals typically post in 35–60 days after you send the letter. Rebuild-side impact compounds over 3–9 months. Lex shows you a per-item timeline with realistic expectations — no inflated promises.
What if a bureau ignores my dispute?
Failure to respond within the statutory window is itself a FCRA violation. We'll flag it, draft a follow-up letter, and prepare a CFPB complaint and (if appropriate) a referral packet to a consumer-law attorney. You decide which step to take, and when.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. No contracts. Cancel from your account in two clicks. Your data export is one click. Anything we've drafted stays yours to use.
